1.2 Double 180° bending test method
The purpose of this test method is to eliminate the additional error caused by connector plugging in method 1. This method uses two 180° bending to equate a 360° bending in method 1.2 The test procedure is as follows:


As shown in Figure 2a, the specimen is bent into a U-shape and connected to the network analyzer, and the phase of the phase stable cable is zeroed. the bending radius r of the U-shape bend should be as large as possible (generally specified by the relevant detailed specifications). Place the mandrel with the specified diameter d above the specimen and bend the specimen 180° around the mandrel as shown in Figure 2b. The bending should be smooth to minimize the effect of improper action on the test results. Record the phase-frequency curve.1 Return the specimen to the position in Fig. 2a. Then place the mandrel under the specimen and bend the specimen 180° around the mandrel as in Figure 2c, record and save the phase-frequency curve 2.

                               

The data extracted from curves 1 and 2 are taken to represent the maximum change in phase before and after the bending of the phase stable cable at different frequencies.


The advantage of this method is to eliminate the additional test error caused by the plugging and unplugging of the connector, but the disadvantage is that the phase stable cable bending step requires the coordinated operation of several people to ensure that the position and state of the two connection points of the specimen and the network analyzer remain unchanged during the test.
