2.4mm RF Coaxial Connector---ZOMWAVE

The successful development of the 2.4mm coaxial connector marks a new step in the development of millimeter wave connectors.

 

A series of small coaxial connectors developed in front of it have made many improvements in structure, but they are still not improved enough in terms of the robustness and repeatability of the connectors. This has caused a series of problems with instruments and calibration standards, because these places require higher alignment, robustness, and repeatability.   

 

The small connectors developed in the past are subject to the limitation of being compatible with SMA, which affects the performance of the connector. For example, when mating with SMA conenctor, because the SMA size tolerance range is very large, the female center conductor (jack) can happen occasionally A fault with an enlarged outer diameter, and a small high-frequency coverage capability, and the center contact body is also very fragile (easy to break). There is an urgent need to develop a new type of coaxial connector that requires dieless operation to 50 GHz, high robustness and repeatability, and ability to resist accidental failures.

Under such a new requirement, companies such as ZOMWAVE have successively developed a new generation of new small 2.4mm coaxial connectors. The 2.4mm coaxial connector is filled with air medium to match the space to achieve low loss. The center conductor support adopts a high-performance insulator, and the compensation hole on it is a non-through hole, which can prevent dirt from entering the inside of the connector. There is a large enough distance between the two insulators to minimize mutual influence. The center conductor jack adopts a four-slot structure (for production level and instrument level) and a slotless structure (for measurement level). Its appearance is very similar to SMA connector and APC-3.5. In order to avoid accidental mating with these connectors, the connection thread of the connector adopts metric M7×0.75. In order to protect the jack from being damaged, the outer conductor has been matched to more than 50% before the pin contacts the jack. 2.4mm rf coaxial connector has good performance in the whole range of DC~50GHz, the reflection loss is less than SMA, APC-3.5, K-type connector, and the structure has high repeatability. The 2.4mm rf coaxial connector can be used in a wide range of fields, and is the first product with three levels: production, instrument and measurement.
